Originally sent in by John Lomas -as a cutting from The Long Eaton Advertiser dated Friday 29 July 1966. Pupils Visit Factory. (Barlaston Stoke on Trent factory of Josiah Wedgwood). Possibly a Scientific Society trip?

This caption from Jean Naylor: 'It was a great outing. In the morning we went to an iron foundry
at Rotherham / Sheffield, very smokey, noisy and exciting (reminded me of
little goblins working away in Wagner's Ring Cycle).

Later in the day, I remember watching a woman hand painting designs on a Wedgwood plate, asking us what we'd done in the morning. For some reason, she felt we preferred the foundry to her place! Odd what we remember, n'est-ce pas?
