It has been said, that without John Jepson, Carsington would never have been rebuilt after the catastrophic collapse of the dam wall in 1984. Following the collapse, John came out of retirement to head up the public relations team. He listened to the residents of the surrounding villages, who were very much against it being rebuilt.
