Little Eaton & High Service
Construction at High Service Works c.1930s
Does anyone know what this machine does or is? I can see a small centrifugal pump, valves and a pressure guage. Interesting to see the workmen - all with flat caps and no high visibility jackets. Thought to be at High Service Works.

Richard Barker (RAB) says that it probably is a sand washer in a slow sand bed. There is a pressure supply to the bottom of the hopper, so does the tray beyond separate sand and sludge ? Maybe the centrifugal is to boost a flushing stream to clear the drains - an odd arrangement altogether!
