Matlock UDC Spring Sources
The SDWB (Matlock District) Water Sources in 1974
This map was produced in 1974 prior to the South Derbyshire Water Board being amalgamated into the Severn Trent Water Authority. On takeover of STWA, in the Darley Dale area, only these assets remained: Whitesprings Reservoir and Springs and Sydnope and Blackbrook Springs or Adits.
Prior to the formation of South Derbyshire Water Board in 1961 the supply of water was mainly the responsibility of the various local councils and also prior to that, by private water companies.

Says Russ Boyack: Matlock, Darley Dale Tansley Matlock Bath Cromford Wensley et al all fed from spring supplies. No knowledge of Two Dales booster. In the 60's Two Dales was fed by White Springs. Wolds Res fed Matlock area from the spring supplies. DV connection made at the end of 1960's. Temple Walk pump station pumped water to Upperwood Res. The pump station was by the entrance to the Mining Museum mine on Temple Road - I think it was abandoned in the 1980's - don't know about res.
