Morley Water Tower
Location of Reservoir, Windpump and Water Tower
This disused private water supply collected water from a spring at the head of a tributary of the Stanley Brook in a wooded valley called 'The Gripps'. From the old Ordnance Survey plans, it appears that water was collected in a tank situated within the Gripps. In the field nearby, shown on the OS plan is a Windpump. This must have pumped water to a water tower at the top of the hill. From there it gravitated to feed Morley Manor House (Barnardo's), Smithy Farm and Morley Hayes Farm
