Stapleford and Sandiacre Water Supply
Geology of Sandiacre and Stapleford
The geology of the parish of Stapleford is split into two zones. The high land to the south east of the old Nottingham and Derby Road and to the Northeast of Ilkeston Road is on Bunter Sandstone whilst the rest of the parish to the West is on the coal measures. Wells dug into the sandstone produce water of a satisfactory quality while those that are on the coal measurers produce poor quality water.
