This building was the Roay Oak public House. The original pub was rebuilt and eventually was taken over by Derby Corporation. It became the HQ of the South Derbyshire Water Board in 1961 and was superceeded by purpose built offices and depot at Raynesway.

The premise is now the Derby Registry Office.
